The church was designed by architect Tadeusz Lesisz of Manchester, and was built between 1963 and 1967.

The Church of the Holy Family is of a modern design, but has a traditional rectangular nave-sanctuary configuration. It has a seating capacity of around 250, with on-premise parking for approximately 25 cars. The building is wheelchair-accessible, and includes accessible toilet facilities.
The church was designed by architect Geoffrey Williams (Manchester) and was built between 1957 and 1958. The site includes social spaces separate from the main church and Lady chapel.
This church was formerly the parish church of the Holy Family.
